Mission

Georgia Appalachian TrailGeorgia Appalachian Trail Club manages, maintains, and protects the Appalachian National Scenic Trail in Georgia with volunteers from its membership and the interested public.

The Georgia Appalachian Trail Club promotes the appreciation of the Appalachian National Scenic Trail and natural outdoor places through education and recreational activities, with an emphasis on conservation
ethics and protection of the forests,
their natural resources and wilderness areas.

About the Georgia Appalachian Trail Club 

Since 1930, GATC has protected, managed, maintained, and promoted the Appalachian Trail in Georgia.

Members
We are nearly 800 members representing outdoor enthusiasts from every background and almost every segment of society.

Stewards of the Trail
We maintain 125 miles of trail in Georgia through our Trail Management Program.

Outdoor Recreation
We offer over 100 events each month, including hiking, backpacking, bicycling, canoeing & kayaking, and social activities.

Opportunities for Learning
We teach people the skills to be safe outdoors, enjoying their hiking experience, and be good stewards of the land.

Protecting Our Natural Resources
We advocate for land and river conservation, and participate in programs like Adopt-A-Stream.

Engaging the Pubic
We continue to seek new members through outreach activities like the annual National Trail Days event.

Sharing Information
We offer a variety of ways to stay informed including our Mountaineer Bulletin, website, email group, and meetings.
