Have
you ever dreamed of hiking the entire Appalachian Trail in Georgia? Maybe
hiking the full 75 miles during one trip is too ambitious. Or maybe you'd
rather hike with some buddies by day, but sleep in the comfort of your bed
at night. Well get out your calendar -- have we got a deal for you!
The AT-Series, offered by the Georgia Appalachian Trail Club's Adventure Team, offers members the opportunity to hike the complete Appalachian Trail in Georgia over the course of one year.
You can sample the 2011 AT-Series on December 11, with the 8.8 mile hike from Amicalola to Springer Mountain. Why not bring something festive to wear and take a holiday snapshot next to the AT marker on top of Springer Mountain?
The 2011 AT-Series will kick-off with the same hike on February 6th. After that, one hike will be scheduled each month in the AT-Series on the following dates:
- March 12 - Springer to Hightower
- April 2 - Hightower to Woody Gap
- May 8 - Woody Gap to Neels Gap
- June 12 - Neels Gap to Hogpen Gap
- July 9 - Hogpen Gap to Chattahoochee Gap
- August 7 - Jack's to Unicoi Gaps
- September 10 - Unicoi Gap to Tray Mountain
- October 2 - Tray Mountain to Dicks Creek
- November 5 - Dick's Creek to Blue Ridge Gap
- December 11 - Blue Ridge to Bly
Once you've hiked the entire Georgia Appalachian Trail Club, complete the application form and mail $5 to receive the coveted Georgia Thru-Hiker patch.
