the GATC Picnic - Let us know if you plan on attending
We would like to know if you are planning on attending the GATC Picnic on
April 30, 2011 from 11-4 p.m. at Amicalola Falls State Park. An RSVP is not
required, but you can help us plan for the picnic supplies if you'll let us
know if you are coming. Please respond to Nancy Lovingood
(gardengrows@bellsouth.net) or Bob Layson (laysonb@yahoo.com) with the
number of members and guests you plan on bringing to the picnic. We also
need some additional volunteers, so let us know if you can help.

important to the slain hiker. On April 9, the Indigo Girls will perform at a
fundraising banquet with proceeds going to Right to Hike and UGA's Meredith

Presidential Ponderings
Now that I am beginning my fifth month as President, it is more and more
clear to me that GATC can use the help of more volunteers to do the
“behind-the-scenes” work. GATC is participating in a series of
collaborative meetings with the USFS and user groups to look at issues
around trail system management in the national forest. In February we had a
record 68 people come out for our Saturday trail maintenance work trip.
